The incessant commercial interruptions was an irritant. More important, TV content wasn't worth it.

Several years have passed since I last watched TV. Very informative.

I've always wondered why I stopped watching TV after high school and never really felt the need to keep following a particular series. I know now - what the TV channels put out there nowadays is basically for female viewers, which has no substantial interest in it for men to watch.

I have no complaints about it. I just did other things with my life like actually doing stuff for real and not watching "other people do stuff" and watching them live out their dreams of being an actor/actress.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3893665144141962944.post-33183850288398638072010-08-30T21:44:16.702-07:002010-08-30T21:44:16.702-07:00Whiskey,

But if you actually watch something other than sports, it is so feminine as to be unwatchable. Take Covert Affairs on USA. It is illogical and after one episode obviously designed around what a woman thinks the CIA is like. Most laughable is the HBG "hot blind guy"who teaches her how to fight. I quit watching after that because obviously the advice he was giving (get up close and personal to fight men in hand to hand) would get her killed. It might have been able to attract guys with gadgets, guns and action compensating for the females lack of strength but instead has gone a female is superior to male route. Pity....girls with guns is more believable and sexier.

Rodimus 903Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3893665144141962944.post-69840790332260735422010-08-30T12:38:47.610-07:002010-08-30T12:38:47.610-07:00Aside from being inefficient, the streaming conten...Aside from being inefficient, the streaming content strategy is simply not going to win people over. You can already get decent entertainment for free from Youtube and other no-cost alterntatives. There are a good number of internet comedy series out there produced by amateurs that are almost as good as (or better than) what the professionals come up with. Plus, these amateurs often tailor their product to a specific audience in a way that television producers, and even streaming content providers, could never do. Youtube has comedy series devoted to RPG players, Star Wars fans, dog/cat enthusiasts, and many more audience subgroups. There are fewer quality dramas on Youtube, but there are some fairly good "fanfiction" movies out there - I've noticed low-budget continuations of "Resident Evil" and "The Dark Knight" that were surprisingly well done. As a rule, the amateur producers are fanatical about their niches - well aware of all the inside jokes, loose ends, etc that could make for an interesting fan-produced episode. There's already been lots of discussion on this blog about the atomization of pop culture since the mid 1990's so it goes without saying that free, amateur distribution has decisive advantages. The main disadvantages, such as short episodes (usually 15 minutes or less) and irregular production schedules aren't really that serious enough to drive most people into the arms of paid content providers.Nine-of-Diamondsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3893665144141962944.post-83026849193379222332010-08-30T07:27:31.888-07:002010-08-30T07:27:31.888-07:00We can only hope.
