Advertising: Where the (White) Men Aren't

Thanks to reader Patrick, for the e-mail tip on the Jawbone "viral marketing" ads. While the ads themselves (originally on the Jawbone website, since pulled but still available on YouTube) are odious, virulently (anti White male) racist and sexist, that they exist and generate many positive comments on YouTube is indeed telling. What is absent from television and nearly all marketing is men. Particularly White men. At least in so far as White Men being the target of sales efforts, instead of mere reflexive hostility.

Below are a sample of the Jawbone Ads, created for the web as part of a "viral marketing" effort:

Responsible Marketing did not think much of the ads. Culture Buzz loved it. Top Rank Blog thought it was stupid and offensive. IntoMobile.com thought it was brilliant (because it was a White guy getting murdered by an Asian family).

But what is striking about these videos is the message (all directed by Music Video Director Samuel Bayer [Green Day, Garbage]). The message is that White Guys are terrible, and deserve to be killed, or better yet, turned gay. The video play on the hatreds towards White men by Women, Blacks, Asians, and so on.

Yet ...

Who is the biggest market for Bluetooth headsets? Why yes. White Men.

The older Black man sitting in the Dry Cleaner, ignoring the murder of the obnoxious White male customer? According to the Wall Street Journal, Middle Class Blacks are 40% of the Black population. Blacks themselves are 12.5% of the population. Thus the Middle Class Blacks are 5% of the population, and the Middle Class Black guy just sitting there ignoring the murder of the White guy is 2.5% of the population at best. While it may be quite typical for White women to wish that annoying White guys "turn gay," the gay population in the US is estimated at between 2.5% to 3%. While it's difficult to estimate, women remain a smaller technology buyer segment than men, though single women are increasingly more important technology buying segments, they still trail single men in buying technology, particularly cutting edge consumer electronics.

There isn't much payoff in terms of gaining new customers for new consumer technology like Jawbone's "Noise Assassin" bluetooth headsets by making the largest buying segments the targets of either "turning gay" or death by sharks or angry dry cleaning staff.

Indeed, the implicit message, being an obnoxious White guy gets you turned "gay" or killed by Women or Black Guys is pretty negative. It's one more example of the total failure of Advertising and Marketing to reach White Male consumers. Since the marketing people are so filled with hatred for those very same consumers.

As more and more men and women do not marry at all, or delay marriage well into their thirties, and high divorce rates equal lots of single people, a strategy of relying only on White female consumers and non-existent Black Middle Class consumers (or gay ones) is bound to fail. White Men remain about 50% or more of the potential consumer base for everything from consumer electronics to cars. Single people, whatever the cause, means that at least half of all household purchasing decisions will be made by Men. Most of them, White men.

These ads show how the entire creative culture is oriented around the desire to erase White Men from existence. By either wanting to "make them gay" or simply kill them. Such a culture, oriented in a rough coalition of women, gays, and non-Whites who all oppose the existence of White Men, cannot exist for much longer without a great deal of cultural and political strife. Indeed, the opting out of male viewers from Television and movies is only part of this trend.

Was forced to watch a few minutes of TV this weekend ...

Disney Channel shows a graduation ceremony for their 'High School Musical' program. At the ceremony, they announce the student, their academic achievements and what college they'll be attending. Two or three girls were announced as having the highest possible grades and attending top universities (Yale, Harvard). The girls were very attractive, dressed well, etc. Oh, and non-White. I think they announced a few stellar non-white males as well.

Finally, it's time for some humor. Next they announce that "Chris" (or something like that), pause, well "at least you graduated" followed by staged raucous of audience laughter. Chris was a poorly dressed, disheveled white boy, who upon hearing the news that he graduated, immaturely runs and jumps into the arms of his buds. Thus, making a total fool of himself.

The message: White boys are stupid, immature, inferior clowns. Women and non-whites are superior in every way. Honestly, they made him look like he belonged with mentally challenged students.

I'm surprised at the hatred of white men in advertising. The idiot dad is a popular theme. There are several home improvement and lawn care commercials where the wife and children are smarter than the man.

I think the worst was a series of Washington Mutual (WAMU) commercials where there was a young black man speaking to a group of older white men who were penned in. This was a whole series of commercials, probably five or six, and pointedly against white men.

Anybody who doesn't have a thing in his ear thinks that only douchebags like the guys in the ads would ever put things in their ears. These ads are meant to fight that perception. Then the lie that these devices eliminate noise rather than create it.

It's funny, on the rare occasion I do flip through the TV I usually end up watching the Spanish channels. Now I don't know more than 5 words of Spanish I still find the programming more interesting than anything else on (Things blow up, really hot chicks, ect).

I have pretty much given up watching TV.

I think it's more that they want to take away all power from white men. I think they know they need white men to run society. But they'd rather that white men be the untertans and worker bees, under the jackboots of women, gay men, and non-white men. After all, "we have it coming to us after having ruled for so long". That is the attitude. It is to disempower us.

Same thing is happening in the portrayal of boys. If we feminize the schools, and portray white boys on TV and in film as being inferior to girls and non-whites, eventually this is de-motivate white boys, leading to their disempowerment. It's something that they are doing because they realize that affirmative action only gets you so far: in the face of smart white men, folks who got degrees thanks to AA can't compete in the workplace and so on. So in addition to AA, they are seeking to de-motivate white boys so that they do less well, and are less empowered as a result.

The war is on, and has been on for decades. We are the enemy. We are the hated class. Everyone else in society has a special protected status other than us. It's very obvious that we are public enemy number one.

I suspect we will continue to stumble along this same path for quite some time, simply because most white men are happy to be lackeys and throw themselves into the matriarchy's maw in exchange for a whiff of sex.

I'm glad I saw these commercials. I was in the market for a bluetooth headset, and now I can cross Jawbone off the list.

2 Years from now, when Jawbone is bankrupt and begging for a government bailout, everyone will be shaking their heads trying to figure out why a company with a superior product couldn't seem to sell them.

Nobody will remember that they shot themselves in the face with crap like this, 2 years earlier.

The only thing I watch on TV now is movies. Mostly classics that were made years ago. Everything else is vomit.

A couple of events occurred over the past few weeks that went virtually unnoticed by the MSM, as we've reached the point where such are no longer considered any big deal:

First, Anne Mulcahy retired as CEO of Xerox, and was succeeded by Ursula Burns.

Second, Elena Kagan, B. Hussein Obama's choice to be US solicitor general, was succeeded by Martha Minnow as dean of the Harvard Law School.

The significance of these events is that cunt is now the default value for any and all leadership positions, and we are sending the message to our sons that they will have to resign themselves to being in a subordinate role forever.

The "women's liberation" movement of the 70's promised "equality", but that was all bullshit. Those of us who saw through it knew even then that it was all about power and nothing else.

The reality is that there's no such thing as "equality". There is only one group subordinating the other, and it will always be that way. I prefer to be in the group doing the subordinating, and history shows that that must be men.

Societies organized otherwise will wither away. White America is beyond the early stages of that process, with a far lower than replacement birthrate. What is left of it in fifty years will be Mormon and evangelical, and it will bow before its Muslim and Latino masters.

Unfortunately, this process will occur through natural means rather than through any effort on the part of men to take back their birthright, because such would be regarded as laughable by snickering feminists asserting that what they need is a good lay, and by the misguided chivalrous conservatives, who would call upon them to "man up".

Anti Feminist Tech - the solution is not for you and other guys to lock yourselves in your apartments and fuck blow up dolls. The solution is for you and other guys to learn, fight, and teach a lesson to those who oppose you. White males, middle class ones, still have an incredible amount of economic power. It's time for JAWBONE to be taught a lesson, for instance. In the form of a boycott, and some accidentally smashed products in the local Best Buy. And some comeuppance for the director of the video. How bout someone find his address and phone number and we harass the shit out of him at 4AM?

Psych 101 taught me about negative reinforcement, where stern consequences for behavior will condition the offender not to repeat it. That is what is needed. This war can only be won by real men who aren't afraid of social shaming by feminists, who by the way, will respect you more for standing up for yourselves than for tucking your dicks between your legs.

I highly doubt the company sat around the table and had debates on white vs black vs asian etc.
They made FUNNY videos that are amusing.
The message has nothing to do with white people being stupid. The director of the videos IS WHITE.

Gangbox -- As a practical matter, telling the Demographic majority that they have no place in this country and must get to the back of the bus is a recipe for social strife. In Indonesia and Malaysia it has led to period riots targeting the minority Chinese diaspora.

Blacks, Hispanics, and Gays are the minority in this nation. White men outnumber them, and if White men do not have a stake in the system, practical human experience and all of human history suggests they will in fact destroy it.

As for TV, even the most cursory glance at the ads confirm that almost NO ads are aimed at White men, and the few that are have plenty of Black guys (subtext often being "avoid offending the Black guy by using our product.")

Again as a practical matter this leaves most White men outside the consumer economy, look at Japan's "Grass Eaters" to see how that creates an economic morass and decline. Middle Class Blacks like Obama are only 5% of the population, that's a thin spread to bet on for consumer spending or anything else.

Obama's election as "Magical Negro" (to quote Spike Lee's essay) is about to come crashing down on his manifest incompetence and hatred for Whites and America, along the lines of fellow "Magical Negro" Morgan Freeman's sex scandal involving his sexual interest in his grand-daughter (as part of his ugly divorce).

the blk guy is middle aged(about 40). I didn't get that he was speaking to the bankers per say. It seems that he was speaking to the viewers about the way bank(ers) traditionally behave with our money. His questioning to the bankers was more along the lines of call and answer.
I seen worse commercials

There is a European commercial for soap powder that was far more inflammatory.

Obama does indeed hate White people, his first book is replete with examples, such as his "hatred" (his words) for some ordinary middle aged White guy interviewing him, his extraordinary confession that he wanted to echo Malcolm X's desire to kill some random White Guy to "erase the shame of his White blood" and his bit with his "racist White Granny" who was upset because some Black guy was hassling her on the bus. They also gain social power by being "Black" and gain AA advantages, including passes in the media.

As for Blacks in Commercials, the Black Middle Class is about 5% of the population. The dominance of Blacks in commercials, sometimes approaching 80%, is all out of proportion to their numbers as consumers. Blacks for example are rarely married, yet New York Life features an ad with a Black Father saving for his son's graduation. Or there are constant Black Doctors in commercials AND entertainment. According to the AMA, Blacks make up 4% of all Doctors in the US. It's pure propaganda, perhaps also the function that Black men are assumed to be more "manly" than White men by White female consumers.

Blacks have a significant and permanent place in American culture. And no tragedy is greater than the total collapse of Black American culture, in Literature, Music, and Food, all of which are great gifts to America and the World, and are sorely missed.

However, Blacks are a minor key, not a dominant one, and the insistence that 12.5% of the population will dominate, particularly when 60% of that 12.5% is Ghetto, is laughable.

What is particularly annoying is the constant theme of most ads featuring the dweeby White guy desperately seeking the approval of the "cool" Black guy. Most White guys don't care, either way. They just want to get on with life.

There’s the company called Asus. They make various computer parts, motherboards, graphics cards, sound cards, etc. I build my own computers and my computer is filled with Asus parts because they are targeted to guys like me who want maximum engineering (reliability and performance).

It’s pretty safe to say that Asus’s customers are nearly all male. Asus spends so little on marketing that they might as well not be spending anything on marketing. Instead Asus spends that money on engineering their products and relies on reputation to make sales.

What Asus proves is that advertising is all about getting women to buy crap. When men are your main customers, advertising tends to be minimal at best.

While watching soccer this weekend on Telefutura, several commercials which may be of interest to you were repeated over and over. I assume these commercials will be shown during future soccer games as well.

The most prominent one which was for Miller Lite (I think) showed a bar scene with several people. A man throws a dart, striking the dart board dead center. Everyone drinks to his success. Then a woman, far more beautiful than the man is handsome, throws her dart. It, too, strikes dead center into the tail of his dart. Afterwards, he has his arm around her neck, and they all celebrate with a beer.

Other commercials seem to have the same theme of competition and equal achievement. I wonder, though, how many men or women would marry spouses who were better at a chosen endeavor than they were.

I'm not going to complain about any commercial that has a good father in it, even if that father is a black man. Such commercials are too far and inbetween for us men as it is.

As a white guy, I really don't care about commercials anyway, provided they are not the racist, sexist trash such as the ones from Jawbone that you linked to. And whilst I wish that affirmative action would either expand (to include the disadvantaged of all races& genders ) or have a definate timetable for ENDING, I don't mind if blacks get overrepresented in commercials - for years when they followed our rules and were as conservative as you would have liked they were ignored and condescended to by the culture at large. What happened to Jackie Robinson when he came home from World War 2, was a freaking disgrace. I hope we can both agree on that.

So, because White people who lived long before I was born (and most White Men) did bad things I must be punished? And not see myself or people like me on commercials? And be the eternal butt of all jokes on said commercials? It does not seem very appealing. Or the basis for sound marketing to men. Nearly all of whom in English Language, middle class demos, will be White.

Because that one race has the power. Let's get real. The day the populace starts feeling sorry for white males because they're powerless is the day these sort of ads stop.

Unfortunately, until that time, all that complaining about these sort of ads does is prove to people that your so insecure about your position that you're actually threatened by these ads.

In the eyes of most, any even marginally successful white male who isn't a total loser is going to be so confident of his position that the idea of finding ads like this threatening is laughable. (Distasteful? Perhaps. Threatening? No)

And the ironic part is, the louder one shouts that "the threat is real", the more of a loser one looks like to the rest of the world.

Most people, if they saw a millionaire fretting about small change that he accidentally dropped in the sewer would think "what a loser!" Same idea with white males fretting about TV ads.

It doesn't matter if both could be thought of as prudent in a different light.

The unfortunate point is that once you've declared yourself low status in such a fashion, human behaviour pretty much decrees that you will be shunned by the remaining members of the high status group as defective.

I am entirely fed up with the anti-white heterosexual male advertising as well. I have decided not to watch any television except what I have recorded and can fast forward through the commercials. And I adamantly refuse to buy any products that participate in this latest trend. What really needs to happen is that affirmative action needs to be repealed and any of the laws that allow the NAACP to sue over misrepresentation of minorities in the media and advertising need to be removed. I am fed up with this crap. Apparently it isn't bothering our president.

Wow. Slams against white dudes aside, those commercials are just awful. Do we really condone such bloody violence against anyone?

You can bet your life savings that if the dry-cleaning Asian-Americans were replaced with white guys, and the asshole white guy was replaced with an African-American, there'd be hell to pay. But it's socially acceptable to do this to a white guy.

I wonder how the advertisers would feel if someone pulled plastic bags over their heads and smashed their skulls in with a typewriter. Maybe they would think twice about putting said violence in advertising?
