Obama Calls Workers Slugs: Is Obama the New Nixon?

Via CBS and Mark Knoller, Obama called Federal Workers "slugs" and lamented he did not have a cool phone.

"I always thought I was gonna have like really cool phones and stuff," he said during a Q&A session with contributors to his re-election campaign.

"We can't get our phones to work." Acting out his exasperation, he said: "Come on, guys. I'm the president of the United States! Where's the fancy buttons and stuff and the big screen comes up? It doesn't happen."

Mr. Obama made the remarks at the 2nd of 3 fund-raisers last night in Chicago. He took questions from contributors after the press pool had left and may not have realized some reporters back at the White House could still hear his comments.

He said the White House is "like 30 years behind" when it comes to technology.

"Our IT purchasing is horrible," said the president referring to Information Technology throughout the government.

"It's true in the Pentagon. It's true in the agencies. It's true in the Department of Homeland Security," Mr. Obama said of outdated equipment.

But he did have some kind words to say about government workers.

"What's striking when you enter into the federal government is how generally smart and dedicated people are." He did opine that some employees "are slugs and not trying to do their job. But that's true of any large institution."

CBS has refused to release the audio tape, which Big Government confirms.

Obama is of course, completely protected by the Media. They might as well be his press secretaries. The coverage would be the same if they were.

But with Drudge linking to a CNBC report predicting $6.50 a gallon gas in the Summer, not even the media can protect Obama from consumer misery. As Ace of Spades noted echoing my own post that College Educated White women are the key to Obama's re-election, even that group of people need to drive. More dollars into the gas tank means less for everything else. So Obama calls workers in the Federal Government slugs.

CBS will not of course be reporting on any of this. But government workers are going to get the news, if anything their conservative friends will send them the Mark Knoller link, and laugh that CBS won't report it on their own newscast. Even government workers need to buy gas. At a certain point, all the air cover the press flies for Obama becomes meaningless.

Just as I predicted, Obama's collapse will be spectacular and ugly. The man has a thin skin, has never faced failure, and has skated on being the "magical Black guy" for so long that he's even more unstable and insecure in his own skin than Richard Nixon. No doubt he's ordered his own group of plumbers to "go after" people. Not realizing that what works for a cheap Chicago Pol is disaster in a President.

People expect results. They expect at a minimum the President to produce an economy that lets them buy stuff. Since the rest of American culture has been eroded into the point of nothingness, and America is basically a place on a map. Without meaningful borders and now trending (because we won't enforce our immigration laws) rapidly non-White majority. Obama cannot even deliver a bit of economic recovery, while insulting people in private and expecting it will stay that way.

Obama really is the New Nixon.

I think you need to fix your headline.

"What's striking when you enter into the federal government is how generally smart and dedicated people are." He did opine that SOME employees "are slugs and not trying to do their job. But that's true of any large institution."

He said SOME employees are slugs, so what? There are slugs in any field of endeavor. He also said many Federal employees are smart and dedicated.

I think you are overreacting on this one.

Which Nixon are you referring to? The one with the foresight to get us out of that jungle shithole in the Far East? The one who triangulated China against the USSR, ultimately winning the Cold War? The one who brought the Sun Belt, the Solid South and conservative Catholics into the Republican fold? The guy who went to Whittier and Duke from working class origins who never had anything handed to him? The President who loved bowling and actually spoke extemporaneously to a press corps that wanted him crucified upside down?

Nixon, hungover, with the flu, on his worst day still towers over Obama. I'm not getting the comparison.

@Anti-Gnostic

Good points, though I think Obama's educational achievements are just as impressive as Nixon's.

Now if you want to compare Obama/Nixon with Dubya...

jules said...

Well, let me just say THIS about THAT! Aroo!

Anti-Gnostic is right, but he's also forgetting all the socialism that Nixon brought to america, price controls, war on poverty, high fructose corn syrup.

Whiskey, what are your thoughts of the Hunger Games phenomenon?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hunger_Games_trilogy

It's the 'next Twilight' with huge sales in the millions and the cast for the film has already been selected.

It's not the kind of thing you'd think girls and young women would like. It's quite violent with a very depressing outlook on human nature.

Yeah. Tremendous job so far: $4/gal gas, escalating deficits, war in three different countries, persistent unemployment, increased welfare consumption.

The only way Obama is stumbling, bleeding, gasping backwards across the finish line in 2012 is because the Republican primaries are three-legged sack races with the last-buffoon-left-standing as the winner, like in 2008.

So what are you trying to say? College educated women and Government workers(!) are going to defect to the GOP?

Maybe. I mean, anything can happen. However, based on my experience with these people, not even the prospective collapse of the nation could bring them to pull the lever for a guy with an R next to his name.

Fed workers rely greatly on the Democratic Party. It's a symbiotic relationship. The recent chaos in Wisconsin let everyone who receives their paycheck from the Government know which side of their bread is buttered.

And East and West Coast women voting for anti-abortion Republicans? In your dreams.

Anti-Gnostic,

I'm not the anon you're responding to, but do you think Barry will be re-elected? I mean, there's no way, right?

Obama will easily win re-election, he's just a talented politician and now he has the prestige and power of the presidency in his corner. The demagoguery of the idiots who think the president's job is to "fix" gas prices as if he somehow controls the price levers in the economy will have minimal effect. I think even the beer and cheeseburger crowd that such arguments are aimed at is starting to realize that prices were high under Bush just as they are under Obama and that something more systemic is at play. Actually solving problems like smashing commodity speculators and reimposing position limits on them would mean upsetting some very powerful interest groups and industries. Since our political establishment is looking for their next sweet job after their government service that sure as hell ain't happening. The disillusionment is spreading as the internet has exposed the rot of the system and the corruption of our ruling elite.

These are all systemic problems that go a hell of a lot deeper than one politician. Sure some of these things can be more attributed to certain political parties/ideologies when you want to score partisan points. I blame much of the right cuz of their near thirty year dominance of our political system and their unrepentant corporate cock gobbling but regardless of my political leanings to me they're all signs of a nation in steep decline.

This is correct, however: women control something like 80% of the consumer spending in this country, and consumer spending accounts for roughly 2/3 of our GDP. Single women especially like Obama, probably almost as much as they like shopping for new shoes, I'd wager.

I'd say the hamster will be working overtime trying to square that circle.

I once saw a schizophrenic man talking to himself on a public pay phone. He thought he had a pretty cool phone.

My son has a pretty cool i-phone. He spends most of his time playing video games on it. My wife has a nicer cell phone than mine and all she uses it for is to endlessly talk about nothing to her friends. It is quite cool though.

Obama is just the front man for the Democratic machine, and his chances for re-election depend on the machine's ability to turn out the votes.

As long as the machine (which includes the media) are behind him -- i.e., as long as they find him to be a useful tool -- he has a chance. But if they begin to have doubts about his ability to impersonate an effective President, he's toast.

knightblaster said...

It depends almost entirely on what the GOP serves up as a ticket.

The only way Obama is going to get the kind of voter surge he got in ’08 is if the GOP nominates someone who motivates both the left *and* the independents to come out and vote in droves against the GOP candidate. He doesn’t have the huge anti-Bush sentiment behind him this time, and he has managed both to alienate most independents and to sap the enthusiasm of his own left wing activists at the same time – no mean feat, that. Sure, he campaigns well, but sentiment is different than it was in ’08, and he’s lost huge ground in virtually every area, including among women (still his strongest non-minority support base).

However, don’t underestimate the ability of the GOP to shoot themselves in the foot by selecting a ticket that motivates independents to run for cover to Obama.

If the GOP nominates a reasonably acceptable ticket, the upcoming election will be very close, like the ones we had in ’00 and ’04. If the GOP nominates someone who scares the independents, Obama will win, but not like he did in ’08. The shine has clearly worn off Obama based on his numbers. However, if the GOP nominates someone who doesn’t appeal to independents, Obama will win anyway.

Obama is like Nixon because he does not realize every private moment is not private. And expresses a mean, vindictive nature that radiates weakness.

Obama just called a whole bunch of federal workers slugs. Why? That's an unforced error. Its Nixonian. Only someone supremely unstable and self-loathing would run a plumber operation against self-destructing George McGovern.

College educated White women are the masters of self-deception. But that is a middle class luxury. With Gas at $6 a gallon, that means no more new stuff to buy. And every mean, self-destructive Obama comment makes him less the fantasy Alpha male and more the loser beta male who can't even be a provider any more.

Sedulous said...

"Obama just called a whole bunch of federal workers slugs. Why? That's an unforced error. Its Nixonian."

I think you're grasping here. He said most are smart and dedicated but SOME are slugs. So what? Some Federal workers ARE slugs. I think his statement is fair.

I think a better comparison between Obama and Nixon is in foreign affairs. While campaigning in 2008, Obama spoke out publicly against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now as President, he has escalated both and added a third.

In 1968, Nixon claimed to have a secret plan to end the war in Vietnam, which helped him win the Presidency, but in reality, he secretly escalated it.

Maybe the question should be:

How is Hillary Clinton like Kissinger?

jules said...

Public opinion is very fickle, the same people unwilling to enter war in Europe volunteered in the millions after December 7.
I'm with Whiskey on this one, Obama's glamor lasts so long as he's able to keep the gravy train rolling, because his otherwise character trait is that of CONTROL (read Dinesh D'Souza's book). In other words, he is what people imagined Nixon to be.
Whiskey, I thought it was understood among conservative circles that John Dean ordered Liddy to Watergate because he thought the Democrats had incriminating info on him. Liddy even won a libel case against Dean when Dean tried to smear him again in the 90s.
Nixon WAS paranoid, that comes across in the tapes, but he wasn't as obsessed with control as Obama has shown himself to be.
Tolkien's definition of evil is those who seek to control others, "one ring to bind them".
Obama is Morgoth, if he can't bend middle earth to his will well..you know how it turns out.

"Some are slugs." Why the need to put in such a pointless, derisive comment? As a mullato working with ghetto blacks for many years, Barry must've had a lot of frustration at their ghetto ways;frustration which he was loathe to voice. Saying "some" are slugs is most likely a way for him to vent his anger at blacks w/o any racial overtones.

My Point of View said...

Obama wants to raise the debts ceiling. More spending, more debts, well if someone of these federal union slugs can make a stronger ceiling and walls to hold that debt ceiling maybe we can control all this runaway spending. Maybe because the private sector can get things done correctly and more efficiently that all this federal red tape.

"SOME employees "are slugs and not trying to do their job. ..."

Why don't all these politions want to be a more fiscally responsible person? USA is a business, we need more business minded people and less politicians.

I asked about this in the last thread, but maybe you didn't see it. What do you think of Palin/West in 2012?

That's my dream ticket. I don't really have a second choice at this point.

Do you think that Allen West could counteract the negative attitudes of white women towards Palin? I'm interested in what you might have to say about that.

Anonymous said...

Funny, he'd have a lot more money for toys if he didn't drop us a trillion dollars more in debt and if he stopped bombing other countries... hell, I'll mail him a new video phone if he wants to cut the federal budget in half!

"Do you think that Allen West could counteract the negative attitudes of white women towards Palin? I'm interested in what you might have to say about that."

That ticket's not going to cut it. West is more of a stern "daddy" type figure to young people, including young women, than a "hunk", and due to his age he would probably not be considered more attractive than 0bama. Also never underestimate the press's ability to "Palinize" the very same candidates whom they cynically praise at one moment. For example, witness how McCain was slammed with the fake affair story once he was no longer of use to the Left as a "Maverick Republican". At present West is definitely less popular with the media than John McCain used to be, so they are definitely going to destroy him if he joins a ticket. West's skin color will (1) not peel off lots of black votes and (2) will not cause white women to join the GOP coalition.

Saw the new Pirates this weekend. By the numbers, but the feminism in the first seems to have entirely evaporated. Cruz's character is very clearly risking a lot trying to hang with the men. The whole thing is basically a story of men doing their thing, and the only women present are there mostly to look pretty.

Holy fucking shit, dude. Or you're going to do what? Throw him into the nearest locker? Give him a swirly? Slash his tires? Oh, I know, get ten other guys around him, and tea bag him!

I've not seen that sort of reaction from anyone outside of the collectivists for a very long time. I won't defend the validity of anything Whiskey says, his comments will stand or fall on their own, but goddamn, dude. That's the sort of reaction one gets at femenisting or any of the various other marxist publications when one doesn't toe the party line. The kind of reaction to those who are too used to breathing the non air of their own personal vacuum.

Grow the fuck up and get over yourself. I for one, welcome your...threat was it?

Stay the fuck off it, or I'll make an effort to rip your posts to fucking logical shreds everytime I see a post of yours.

I mean seriously, is that even a fucking threat? While I can't speak for Whiskey, I would just LOVE to watch someone do that to any post anyone makes. I WELCOME that in the spirit of free thinking and the sharing of ideas. Though given your absolutely neanderthallish and jocklike reaction here, one can't help but conclude you haven't got the mental capacity to even attempt it, since all you've shown is the ability to threaten and intimidate (and not very well I may add).

Obama's collapse will be spectacular, but nothing compared to the collapse of the USA.
The damage is done, a large chunk of the current population can't handle "freedoms", just a welfare check.
Can't wait to see these handouts stop, work every day in the medical industry and can count the number of times I have seen gratitude expressed on one hand, in over 25 years!
